Andrea is conducting research as an undergraduate. During the summer of 2007 she collected fecal material from small mammals in the Adirondacks. She is now looking at the samples to see if animals ate mycorrhizal fungi. Her main question is whether voles and mice differ in the amount of fungi they consume, as evidenced by spores in their fecal pellets. There is quite a bit of similar research from the Pacific Northwest and Australia, but there are very few studies from Northeastern forests.
