July 24* Receive Housing & Meal Info New students will receive an email from SU Housing with roommate and housing assignment, and other housing and meal plan information. (*date is approximate)
July 29 Move-in Pass system activated Starting at noon, you will be able to log in to set up your choose a move-in time slot time slot and print out your Move-in Pass. First year ESF students must move in before 2pm on 8/26.
August 10 Deadline to Print Move-in Pass Print your Move-in Pass by 4:30pm or you will be automatically assigned to Thursday, 8/21.
August 26 Move-in and Welcome to ESF! Move-in from 9am- 2pm. Welcome Session to kick off Orientation at 3pm.
August 27 Move-in Day 2 and Floor Meeting Move-in from 9am-noon and noon-5pm. Required residence hall floor meeting at 6:30pm.

New Student Move-in for Residential Students

In August, 3,000 new Syracuse University (SU) students and 500 new ESF stuents will arrive on campus for move-in and orientation . A move-in pass system is in place to keep the process organized.

Move-in Pass

*Almost all new ESF and SU students are required to download a move-in pass from the SU new student orientation website to ensure that arrival and move-in are smooth and efficient. (*students participating in special programs requiring them to arrive prior to Wednesday, August 26 (i.e. pre-orientation programs, athletic teams, and the marching band) do not need a move-in pass.)

Special Notes
  • First year ESF students will need to move-in on Wednesday, August 26 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to be available for a welcome session to kick off Orientation at 3 p.m.
  • All residential students are required to attend a residence hall floor meeting at on Thursday evening, August 27.
Getting Your Pass

Beginning July 29 at noon, all first-year students will need to log onto the Syracuse University orientation website to select a move-in day and print a “move-in pass.” To download a move-in pass, please complete the following steps:

  1. Go to http://orientation.syr.edu
  2. Click on "move-in pass system".
  3. Follow instructions to select time slot. You may arrive at any time during your selected time slot.
  4. Enter your name and SU I.D. number and select your move-in day (Wednesday, August 26 or Thursday, August 27) and time slot (9 a.m.–noon or noon–5 p.m.).  Ample time slots will be available for all new students.

The deadline to print a move-in pass is Monday, August 10 at 4:30 p.m. University personnel and a group of returning student volunteers, affectionately known as the “Goon Squad,” will be available to assist you as you move into your residence hall.

Housing & Roommate Assignments

New students will receive an e-mail from the Office of Housing, Meal Plan, and I.D. Card Services on or about July 24 that will include a housing assignment, roommate(s) contact information, and information regarding housing and meal plans at Syracuse University. The email will be sent directly to students’ SU email account. A packet of information will follow via mail with additional details about housing and move-in. More information about housing at Syracuse University can be found at the Office of Housing, Meal Plan, and I.D. Card services website at http://housingmealplans.syr.edu.
