Apply to ESF High School Students

Attention Early Decision Applicants:
You must submit the Early Decision Agreement and apply by December 1.

Step 1: Choose an Application

High School students may apply to ESF using either The Common Application OR the SUNY Application. Follow the directions for the option you choose.

NOTE: If you are applying for the "3+3 BS/DPT" program with Upstate Medical University, you must use the SUNY Application.

Option 1SUNY Application

SUNY Application

Complete and submit both of the following:

You may have a school counselor or teacher submit a letter of recommendation to the SUNY-ESF Admissions Office. Recommendations are not required but will be considered if submitted.

Early Decision Applicants must submit the Early Decision Agreement (PDF).

Option 2Common Application

The Common Application

Complete and submit the online Common Application form, including:

  • SUNY-ESF specific Member Questions
You must indicate your first and second choice program of study, upload your response to the ESF essay question and complete all other items.
  • Your Recommender
Have your school counselor submit the counselor recommendations form online or directly to the SUNY-ESF Admissions Office. Recommendations are not required but will be considered if submitted.

Early Decision Applicants must submit the Early Decision Agreement (PDF).

Step 2: Pay the Application Fee

Before your application is considered, a $50 non-refundable application fee or completed fee waiver form must be submitted, as directed by the application process you have chosen.

Step 3: Send your Transcripts

Have your school counselor send your official high school transcript online through the application process you have chosen or directly to the SUNY-ESF Admissions Office. Your transcript must include your senior year courses and first quarter grades.

Early Decision Applicants: If your first quarter grades are not available when your transcript is submitted, they must be sent separately from your high school directly to the Admissions Office by the December 1 deadline — 315-470-6933 (fax), esfinfo@esf.edu. If any portion of an Early Decision application is received after the December 1 deadline, consideration of the application under Early Decision or Regular First-Year is at the discretion of the Admissions Committee.

Step 4: Submit your SAT or ACT Scores

SAT I or ACT (or both) scores are required for high school applicants. The highest scores for each section from all test dates will be considered. We accept SAT or ACT scores included on your high school transcript as official. But, if they are not posted to your transcript, you must have them sent from the testing agency. SUNY-ESF’s SAT code is 2530 and our ACT code is 2948.

Step 5: Apply for Financial Aid

NOTE: International students are not eligible for financial aid.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have the results sent to SUNY-ESF. Our FAFSA Code is 002851. The Financial Aid application deadline for Early Decision applicants is February 1. The recommended filing date for Regular First-Year Applicants is March 1.
