Welcome!  Our group at SUNY ESF works towards understanding the complex relationships in coupled human and natural systems, with an emphasis on forested landscapes.  Our research draws on multiple perspectives and across disciplines - including forest ecology, climate science, geoinformatics, resource and land use policy, ecological economics, dendrochronology, landscape ecology, resilience theory, governance, social-ecological modeling and survey research - to address the sustainability of forest systems in a rapidly changing world.

Based at SUNY-ESF’s Adirondack Ecological Center (at Huntington Wildlife Forest) and the main campus in Syracuse, our work takes us to central and northern New York, the Adirondacks, the Northern Forest (NY, VT, NH, ME), Alaska and British Columbia, and Chile.

Please explore the site - a work in progress - to see who we are, what we are doing, and how you might join us as a student or collaborator.
