Winter Mammalian Ecology

This 2 credit course will emphasize the adaptations enhancing over winter
survivorship of mammals in northern environments. Lectures will discuss identification,
natural history, behavior, physiology and ecology of mammals. Field exercises
will employ live trapping and mark-recapture methods applied to small mammals,
as well as postmortem physiological assessment of white-tailed deer. Students
will become familiar with concepts in mammalian ecology, activity patterns,
population processes, habitat requirements and adaptations that enhance winter
survivorship.

Cost:
$335.00 for room and board at the Huntington Wildlife Forest plus cost of
credits.
