Abstract: A computer model was designed to provide accurate browse production estimates for specific areas. Model parameters were obtained by sampling and from the literature, and were used to simulate forest dynamics and browse production in the central Adirondack Mountains of northern New York. Results of such simulations appear to be both realistic and reasonably precise and could be applied in northern forests where numbers and growth of understory stems show a good correlation with overstory basal area.
