NOTE: Tuition, fees and charges are subject to change by action of the University Board of Trustees.

See the itemized expenses tables below for assistance in determining your overall costs each semester.

  • College Fee
This mandatory fee was established by the State University Board of Trustees under Resolution No. 63.22, September 1, 1963. The fee is collected by all units of the State University system; it is not retained by the individual campus. The College Fee is not refundable under ordinary circumstances.
  • Student Activity Fee
The Student Activity Fee is a mandatory fee as determined by a student body vote every four years. Student Government dispenses the money received from the fee to fund student organizations, provide campus wide events & sponsor many additional college functions. This fee can be waived only by Student Government. Refunds are available only to students who officially withdraw from the College during the first week of the semester. Refunds are based on the Tuition Refund Schedule.
  • Orientation Fee
The Orientation Fee is a mandatory fee for all new students. This covers the cost of testing for both mathematics and English placement exams. Waivers may be obtained from the Director of Student Affairs.
  • Laboratory Fee
Physics and Chemistry courses require laboratory fees which average $20 to $40 depending on the course. Based upon the scheduling of courses, lab fees will be included in the semester billing by Syracuse University as the course is provided by SU.
  • Student Services Fee
The Student Services Fee partially offsets the cost of academic and other support services provided by Syracuse University. Refunds are based on the Tuition Refund Schedule.
  • Undergraduate Commencement Fee
This fee is charged in the semester in which the student expects to graduate to cover the cost of caps and gowns, padded diploma cover, honor cards and tassels, and commencement weekend activities.
  • Graduate Commencement Fee
This fee is charged to all new incoming graduate students to cover commencement exercises.
  • Late Registration Fee for Full-Time Students/Part-Time Matriculated Students

Courses may be added/dropped only during the period so designated and announced by the registrar. Add/Drop forms with required signatures must be turned in to the Registrar's Office. Classes may not be dropped, only withdrawn from, after the designated Add/Drop period. A $20 fee will be assessed for every add/drop transaction after the add/drop date.
  • Technology Fee

Program & Personal Expenses

NOTE: Tuition, fees and charges are subject to change by action of the University Board of Trustees.

The cost of books and supplies is approximately $1,200 per year.

Additional costs for personal expenses, clothing and transportation vary greatly from student to student, but are estimated to range from $900 to $1,600 per year.

Several programs at ESF include additional costs. Students majoring in forest resources management attend a seven-week Summer Session in Field Forestry at the Wanakena campus between the sophomore and junior years. Environmental and forest biology majors attend the summer field experience at the Cranberry Lake Biological Station at the end of their junior year.

The Summer Session in Field Forestry costs approximately $1,820, while the program at Cranberry Lake costs $465 a week, plus travel and personal expenses.

Field trips for landscape architecture students range between $300 and $400. In addition, students enrolled in landscape architecture are required to spend one semester off campus. This is a self-designed and student-budgeted program. Costs do not necessarily exceed those of a semester on campus, but additional costs are often incurred depending upon the location chosen. These additional costs are the responsibility of the student and are not covered by financial aid.

Additional course fees for labs provided by Syracuse University will be billed separately by SU. They are typically $20/semester for chemistry labs and $40/semester for physics labs.
