A LETTER FROM JAMIE SAVAGE -- Friends of the Ranger School: The SUNY-ESF Ranger School, in Wanakena, NY, is celebrating its centennial this year. We've had an exciting year of special events and activities to mark the occasion. We began the celebration in July of 2012, and plan to have a small, final ceremony in May to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the graduation of the first class in 1913. In the meantime, we have one more, major centennial event open to all, the Centennial Soiree, and you're invited!

The Centennial Soiree, a semi-formal dinner-dance, will be held Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake. Appetizers and cocktails will be offered from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. During that time, all of the Wild Center exhibits will be open for viewing, including the otters, other live animals, and the new "Planet Adirondack" room. There will also be various slide programs, videos and poster exhibits for you to experience. Centennial merchandise will be on sale courtesy of the Wanakena General Store. A delicious buffet dinner—featuring sirloin, chicken and Mediterranean pasta—will then be served following brief remarks from ESF's President, Dr. Neil Murphy, and other dignitaries. Following dinner and a delicious birthday cake dessert, Saranac Lake-based Crackin' Foxy will take the stage to perform their unique mix of swing/jazz/Hawaiian/Vaudeville music for your listening and dancing pleasure. It will be a rare and special opportunity for students, employees, alumni and friends to come together to enjoy each other's company and celebrate the accomplishments of the Ranger School's first century.
