Event Description: The ESF Department of Landscape Architecture and the Center for Community Design Research invites you to particpate in a hands-on Tactical Urbanism design workshop. 1pm - Welcome and Presentation, 1:45 - Centennial Hall site visit, 4pm - Design Workshop.
Nate Hommel, Director of Planning and Design for the University
City District (UCO) in Philadelphia will be doing a presentation and a workshop
about bringing life to underutilized public space, transforming them using
innovative principles and strategies. His work draws on Tactical Urbanism, which
includes temporary strategic interventions that lead to permanent transformatios.
Nate will draw on examples from his own work at UCO and topics that will include
how and why decision are made, the value of materials and how we design for high
aesthetic valie but ease of mainteance
