Location: Adirondack Interpretive Center in Newcomb, NY
Event Description: Laurel Gailor of the Cornell Cooperative Extension leads off our Working Forests Working for You Series, discussing the forest products industry in the Adirondacks and NYS. This series, which includes field trips to working forests, brings professionals from silviculture, private forest management, state forest management, lumber and paper mills, and forest products industry trade and advocacy groups to discuss the process of growing, managing and using forests in the 21st century. Each lecture will be approximately one hour, with time for questions and discussion. Most lectures will include an optional field trip. Over the course of this lecture series field trips will include visits to diverse types and ages of forest stands, silvicultural and forestry research and demonstration sites, and active forest harvesting sites.
Bring your lunch and enjoy our picnic area, or visit the Northwoods diner in Newcomb.
