Sustainable Skill Share
Saturday, April 16, 2011
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Syracuse Center of Excellence, 727 E. Washington Street
Sustainable Skill Share Mission: To engage the Syracuse community in sustainable living practices through multiple workshops taught by local experts. This free event will feature up to 15 different skill building workshops that are focused around sustainability. Instructors will teach affordable, eco-friendly skills that families can use at home to better their own lives and the environment. There will be plenty of hands on skills to learn. Examples of events include gardening, bike fixing, making/using rain barrels, and cooking with local foods. Skill shares will be held for 45 minutes to 1 hour, with 15 minutes in between each. A list of all workshops will be posted before the event, and people may choose which shares they would like to attend. When not attending a skill share at the event people can take special tours of the Syracuse Center of Excellence building or visit with multiple tables that will highlight local environmental organizations. This event is designed for every one of all ages. It will feature local donations of food, a kidís corner with crafts, and entertainment. Special tours of the Syracuse Center of Excellence will be given throughout the day.
