Eastman Chemical Graduate Student Awards in Sustainable Materials

On Friday January 24, 2014 The SUNY –ESF Cellulose Research Institute will be hosting the 8th annual Eastman Chemical Graduate Student Award program. A total of $3000 will be awarded to the 3 best presentation s in the area of Sustainable Materials Chemical Sciences. The research posters of the contestants will be available for your inspection from 10:00 AM until noon time followed by pizza and soda for the attendees. Feel free to have a look, ask some questions, try to stump our student experts! The panel of judges this year will include two scientists from Eastman Chemical’s main research center in Kingsport, TN. Dr. Jacob Goodrich received a PhD in chemistry right here at SUNY-ESF in 2007. He also won a summer Internship from Eastman in 2005. At Eastman Jake originally worked in ‘Process Chemistry’ but recently has taken on a new hat and is heading a large group of scientists working on Polymer Coatings. The other judge from Eastman is Dr. Lisa Gibson, Advanced Process Development Chemist at Eastman who joined them in 2011 after obtaining her PhD at the University of Cambridge in the UK. Some of your friends who will be presenting include Scott Bergey, Alex Levine, Byeong Cheol Min, Qiong (Gina) Song, and Chris Wood. Oh, did I mention free food?
