Watercolor Workshop with artist Frances Gaffney

Award-winning painter and AIC Artist-in-Residence Frances Gaffney will demonstrate her approach, materials, and equipment in this workshop. Frances will choose a scene to paint, and participants will gather around and paint along with her in a step-by-step method. By observing (including taking photos as desired) and receiving individual coaching, participants will learn Frances’ approach to composition, value planning, perspective and painting techniques.
Suggested materials: A variety of round and flat brushes, palette with large mixing area and lid, watercolor block or sheets, gatorboard or firm backingboard for paper, masking fluid, masking tape, spray bottle, flat toothbrush, paper towels, plastic container for water and pencil and eraser. We’ll be working outside, so be sure to bring: plein air easel OR folding table and chair, camera, bug spray, hat, water, and sunscreen, if desired.
NOTE - This is just a SUGGESTED list of supplies, they are not required. Feel free to bring whatever you have and/or are comfortable with.
