Event Description: NE-1333 is a collaborative project in which researchers from around the country as well as Ontario, Canada are working to save the American chestnut.
The goal of the project is to identify genes that confer blight resistance; improve American chestnut resistance to chestnut blight using breeding, hypovirulance, and transgenics; and to explore the reestablishment of American chestnuts in orchard and forest settings.
