Career Development Series
There are certain things all students need to know to successfully get a job. Whether you're applying for jobs this semester, or starting to plan for your future, this year's Career Development Series: The Equation for Success, will provide you with the insight and tools you need to get you through the process from start to finish.
The job market has been changing rapidly in the past few years, and this year’s series will feature sessions focused on both undergraduate and graduate students learning how to promote themselves on paper to persuade employers to see that they are the best person for the position. Participants will also learn what employers are looking for in determining who gets an interview and eventually hired and effective strategies for navigating and networking at a career fair.
Students who attend all three sessions leading up to the Environmental Career Fair will receive a FREE copy of What Color is Your Parachute 2017 by Dick Bolles, a book renowned for its advice surrounding job hunting, career-changing, and figuring out who you are as a person and what you want out of life.
Specifically, the sessions for 2017 are as follows:
February 7, 2017: Creating a Professional Image: Resume, Cover Letters, & Online Presence
Tips and tricks to standout in the application process in non-profit, government, and for-profit worlds, including the mysterious NY State Civil Service process to get in with NYSDEC and NY State Parks.
