Tuition, Fees, and Cancellations

Tuition Rates for Undergraduates and Graduate Students

  • Undergraduate Level Student:

  • Graduate Level Student: any student that has completed a bachelor's degree.

Payment process for credit courses

Credit Courses: When the registrar processes your registration, a bill will be mailed to you. Late payment fees are assessed at the end of the month. If you receive a grade of "Incomplete" you are still responsible for tuition payment.

Payment in person: You may present payment with a check or money order made payable to SUNY ESF or you may pay with MasterCard or VISA within ten days of receipt of the bill to the Business Office located in Room 102, Bray Hall.

Payment by mail: Mail your payment to SUNY-ESF, Business Office, 102 Bray Hall, 1 Forestry Drive, Syracuse, NY 13210.

Student Fees:

  • Non refundable College fee - 85 cents per credit hour ($2.25 for a 3-credit hour course) up to a maximum of $12.50 for 12 credit hours or more.
  • Student Activities fee - for non-matriculated students carrying 12 credit hours or more: Undergraduate: $45.00 per semester, Graduate: $28.00 annually
  • Student Support Services fee - all students each semester:
    Full-time (12 credits or more): $137.50
    Part-time (less than 12 credits) $11.50 per credit hour
  • Transportation fee of $25 is charged for bus transportation to field sessions.

Students who withdraw from a SUNY ESF course taken for credit must provide written notice to ESF Outreach by filling out an ADD/DROP form.

The first day classes are offered on the SUNY ESF campus, is considered the "first day of the semester", and the first week of classes, for purposes of refunds, is defined as seven calendar days after the "first day" of SUNY ESF scheduled classes. A student who is given permission to cancel registration is liable for payment of tuition in accordance with the following schedule:

  • Tuition Liability for withdrawing by week during the semester:

1st week of classes:    0 % of tuition is charged.
2nd week of classes: 30 % of tuition is charged.

3rd week of classes:  50 % of tuition is charged.

4th week of classes:  70 % of tuition is charged.

5th week of classes: 100 % of tuition is charged.

Cancellations and Refunds: SUNY ESF reserves the right to cancel a scheduled course and if a course has to be cancelled, a full refund of tuition and fees will be made to you.

Tuition rate for courses taken as non-credit:

Course # 0   -   499:    $120 per credit hour
Course # 500 - 999:    $192 per credit hours

Payment process for Noncredit courses and Audited courses

 

Noncredit and audited courses: If you are taking a course for no credit or auditing a course, payment is due to the Outreach Office in 219 Bray Hall when you submit your registration form.  You may pay with cash, check, VISA or MasterCard.  Students who register for a credit course on an "audit" basis are charged full tuition for the course.

Senior Citizens Audit: Seniors (age 60 or over) may audit credit courses free of charge on a space available basis.

Student Teaching Vouchers: SUNY tuition vouchers for supervision of student teachers are accepted in payment of tuition.
