When trees are harvested from a forest there is the potential to disturb forest soils, resulting in sediment-laden runoff, which can adversely impact streams, rivers, lakes, ponds and wetlands. Before and during times of harvest, the use of Best Management Practices (BMPs) is strongly encouraged to minimize the contamination of drinking water supplies, and maintain fish and wildlife habitat.
The objective of the workshop is to show you practical BMPs, and offer you the necessary tools and skills to implement effective practices in your day-to-day forest management activities.
