Silviculture
and Wildlife Habitat Management in November 1-2, 2000 |
Sponsored By
State University of New York
College of Environmental Science & Forestry
Silviculture primarily affects wildlife habitat by changing the composition and structure of the vegetation. This workshop, through a combination of classroom presentations and field trips, will examine those components of wildlife habitat that foresters can alter through silviculture.
We will achieve our objectives by first identifying the important wildlife habitat features common to northern hardwoods. The program will subsequently compare even- and uneven-aged silviculture with respect to differences in their effects on wildlife habitat conditions. The integration of wildlife and wildlife habitat considerations into sustainable forestry programs will be addressed throughout the workshop.
Workshop Location: Huntington Wildlife Forest, Newcomb, NY
