Ninth Balsa Wood Bridge Contest Set for April 24
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Teams from nine Central New York schools will participate Friday, April 24, in the ninth annual Balsa Wood Bridge Competition sponsored by the Student Construction Association at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF).
Bridges will be judged according to their weight and the load they hold. The winner will be the bridge with the greatest strength-to-weight ratio. More than 40 bridges will be judged.
The competition will be 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room 110 of Baker Laboratory on the ESF campus.
The following schools are scheduled to participate: Fabius-Pompey Middle School and High School, Lowville Academy and Central School, Homer Senior High School, G. Ray Bodley High School, Clyde-Savannah Central School, Milford Central School, Camillus Middle School, Manlius Pebble Hill School, and Liverpool High School.
