North Syracuse High School Alumnus Joins ESPRA Board
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - A Syracuse-area native who now works in a leadership position with Union Camp Corp. has been appointed to the board of directors of the Empire State Paper Research Associates (ESPRA).
Spencer Eachus, a chemist and technical specialist in the area of pulping and bleaching, was appointed to serve three years on the nine-member board. The research institute is headquartered at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in Syracuse. Its work is supported by the associates, a worldwide organization of pulp, paper, and supplier companies.
Eachus graduated from North Syracuse High School in 1961. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Clarkson College in 1965 and his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Syracuse University in 1971.
Eachus began his career with Union Camp in 1973, working as a research scientist in the pulping group at the company's research center in Princeton, N.J. He now works as a section leader, overseeing both the process development and the pulping and bleaching groups.
Eachus resides in Allentown, in southern New Jersey.
