Dr. Carmen McCoy-Harrison
ESF Director of Multicultural Outreach
On Saturday morning, April 5, 2003, Dr. Carmen McCoy-Harrison passed away from complications related to a rare blood disorder. Carmen had been hospitalized for several weeks following an earlier surgery. Her mother, daughter, husband and family members were with her at the time of her death. Carmen's spirit and gifts were like no other. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service was held on April 8th at the Abundant Life Christian Center, East Syracuse.
A special campus service was held on April 23rd in Syracuse University's Hendricks Chapel. Family, friends and colleagues of Carmen gathered to celebrate her exceptional life. Brief reminiscences, musical selections and a candle-lighting ceremony were followed by a reception and informal fellowship in the Noble Room of the Chapel.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to a scholarship fund in Carmen's name, through the ESF College Foundation, 204 Bray Hall, 470-6683.
An online "electronic guest book" is available for reading and adding entries at Syracuse.com.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Carmen's daughter, Skye, and her family and friends.
