Kiplinger's Calls SUNY-ESF "A Fabulous Bargain:"
Kiplingers Personal Finance magazine
The SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) was described as "a fabulous bargain" by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine in its survey of the 100 best values in public colleges.
The magazine said its survey "shines a spotlight on schools that combine great academics with reasonable costs." Kiplinger’s lists 100 institutions that are determined to offer excellent education for a reasonable cost. ESF, because its curriculum is limited to subject areas rooted in environmental science, was not on the final list. But Kiplinger’s reserved special praise for ESF, including the college with a handful of others in a section headed, "Great deals that aren’t on our list." The magazine said ESF "could be a fabulous bargain for students seeking these specialized curriculums."
"We are pleased with the increased recognition that the college has received for the quality of its programs," said ESF President Cornelius B. Murphy Jr.
Earlier this year, ESF earned praise in U.S. News and World Report’s annual list of America's best colleges for the third year in a row.
The college was ranked 35th among the top 50 public national doctoral-granting universities. And like Kiplinger's, U.S. News and World Report rated ESF highly in the value category.
