SUNY thanks Representative Walsh for $12.6M in federal support for 9 Central New York projects
Award presentation part of SUNY Day DC federal advocacy program
WASHINGTON Gregory L. Eastwood and Dr. Cornelius Murphy, presidents of SUNY Upstate Medical University and College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) respectively, joined Chancellor Robert L. King in presenting a "Partners in Leadership" award to U.S. Representative James Walsh. Since 2001, Congressman Walsh has secured more than $26.5 million in support of 19 State University programs across New York State, including more than $12.6 million in the fiscal 2004 federal budget earmarked for nine projects in Central New York.
The presentation is part of the third annual SUNY Day DC federal advocacy program held in Washington, D.C., Tuesday and Wednesday, March 30-31. Thirty SUNY campus presidents are attending the event to showcase the State University's strengths in a national setting and interact with federal officials and the New York congressional delegation. In addition, more than 50 ESF and Upstate alumni from the Washington area joined Chancellor King and the campus presidents at a legislative reception for New York's congressional members and their staffs on Tuesday, March 30.
