About the Environmental Comunication Network

The Environmental Communication Network (ECN) is an independent, non-profit, non-commercial educational service. It was founded, and is run, by SUNY-ESF Professor Mark Meisner on a volunteer basis. It is housed on the web servers of the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, but is independent of the college. Its annual budget is $0 (U.S. or Canadian)!

Background

The network has grown out of the biennial Conference on Communication and Environment that has been held since 1991. The network consists of an email LISTSERV mailing list and this web site. Over the years, more and more useful (I hope) material has been added to the web site.

Purpose

The ECN is not a network for simply talking about environmental issues. Rather, it is a network for talking about how communication issues interact with environmental affairs. Along with the conferences, newsletters, journals, the ECN is a place for the exchange of ideas and information relating to the field of environmental communication.

Please help spread the word by creating a link on your web page or blog to the ECN home page.
