- Applied Environmental Education and Communication

- Environmental Communication Yearbook
- Published for three years from 2004 to 2006 and now replaced by Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture. "The Environmental Communication Yearbook is a multidisciplinary forum through which a broad audience of academics, professionals, and practitioners can share and build theoretical, critical, and applied scholarship addressing environmental communication in a variety of contexts. This peer-reviewed annual publication invites submissions that showcase and/or advance our understanding of the production, reception, contexts, or processes of human communication regarding environmental issues. Theoretical expositions, literature reviews, case studies, cultural and mass media studies, best practices, and essays on emerging issues are welcome, as are both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. Areas of topical coverage will include participatory processes: public participation, collaborative decision making, dispute resolution, consensus building processes, regulatory negotiations, community dialogue, building civic capacity; journalism and mass communications: newspaper, magazine, book and other forms of printed mass media; advertising and public relations; media studies; and radio, television, and Internet broadcasting; and communication studies: rhetorical/historical case studies, organizational analyses, public relations/issues management, interpersonal/relational dimensions, risk communication, and psychological/cognitive research, all of which examine the origins, content, structure, and outcomes of discourse about environmental issues."
- Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture
- "Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture will publish high-quality, peer-reviewed scholarship that examines theories, practices, and processes of communication as they relate to the environment around the world. As such, the journal will serve as a nexus, a place of global connection and conversation, among scholars working in and across a variety of disciplines who explore how humans communicate about and within both natural and cultural environments. The journal will also seek to promote interaction between academic scholars and those who practice environmental communication, including community members, industry professionals, government officials, and others, through a number of special features, including a regularly published section devoted to practice. The journal is grounded in two theoretical and practical commitments: 1) symbolic and natural systems are mutually constituted, and 2) effective engagement with environmental issues requires reflection on communication practices and processes."
- Green Theory & Praxis: The Journal of Ecopedagogy
- "Represents a scholarly effort to present research papers and essays at the transformative nexus of ecological politics and culture, ecocriticism, the critique of social structures, and sustainability education. The editorial board of GTP takes the position that many human societies and their attendant political economy and cultural norms depart strikingly from what is needed to maintain ecological harmony and planetary/species flourishing. The journal seeks to offer a forum for careful study of the theoretical positions, political and economic adjustments, behavioral and institutional alterations, pedagogical mobilizations, and spiritual emergencies that will or should emerge in response to increasing ecological damage of both a physical and psychic nature. We seek critical analysis of the root causes of various ecological crises and to link theory to concrete prospects for social change through pedagogy conceived broadly."
- International Journal of Sustainability Communication
- "International Journal of Sustainability Communication: Research and Practice for a Sustainable Future is a peer-reviewed, multilingual e-journal for sustainability communication. IJSC - the title stands for its particular focus in the current debate on sustainable transformation processes. The open access journal offers a communication platform for researchers and practitioners to approach strategies for urging questions regarding the future. Connecting science and practice, the editors publish scientific papers and reports of projects and initiatives. For this reason, the e-journal creates a trans- and interdisciplinary portal for social and educational scientists, economists, media and communication scientists, and communication practitioners (e.g. mediation, public relations, consulting, educational institution). Contributions in English, German, and Spanish are welcome."
- Journal of Environmental Education
- "Any educator in the environmental field will find The Journal of Environmental Education indispensable. Based on recent research in the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, the journal details how best to present environmental issues and how to evaluate programs already in place for primary through university level and adult students. University researchers, park and recreation administrators, and teachers from the United States and abroad provide new analyses of the instruction, theory, methods, and practices of environmental communication and education in peer-reviewed articles. Reviews of the most recent books, textbooks, videos, and other educational materials by experts in the field appear regularly. Not only for teachers, JEE is for those who administer and fund environmental education programs for schools, parks, camps, recreation centers, and businesses."
- Public Understanding of Science

Topics covered include surveys of public understanding and attitudes towards science and technology; perceptions of science; popular representations of science; scientific and para-scientific belief systems; science in schools; history of science education and of popular science; science and the media; science fiction; scientific lobbying; evaluative studies of science exhibitions and interactive science centres; scientific information services for the public; popular protest against science ('anti-science'); science in developing countries and appropriate technology."
- Science as Culture
- "Our culture is a scientific one, defining what is natural and what is rational. Its values can be seen in what are sought out as facts and made as artefacts, what are designed as processes and products, and what are forged as weapons and filmed as wonders. In our daily experience, power is exercised through expertise, e.g. in science, technology and medicine. Science as Culture explores how all these shape the values which contend for influence over the wider society."
- Science Communication
- "The flow of expert knowledge is undergoing rapid change. As information highways are constructed around the globe, new questions about ethics, goals, and economics must be answered. Science Communication addresses theoretical and pragmatic questions central to some of today's most vigorous political and social debates. This discourse crosses national, cultural, and economic boundaries on issues such as health care policy, educational reform, international development, and environmental risk. Science Communication unites international scholarly exploration of three broad but interrelated topics: Communication within research communities - Communication of scientific and technical information to the public - Science and Technology communications policy. Science is broadly defined within the context of Science Communication to include social science, engineering, medical knowledge, as well as the physical and natural sciences."
