Requirements: (1) Two written examinations worth 20% each. Exams will cover material presented in lecture, laboratory, and assigned readings.
(2) Final comprehensive examination worth 40%.
(3) Each student will keep a bound laboratory notebook in which experimental procedures, results, conclusions, discussion, and answers to questions will be recorded. The notebook will be graded twice during the semester and the final grade will be worth 20% of the course grade.
(4) Unknowns will be assigned. You will be required to characterize and identify them. Detailed observations are to be recorded in the notebook. The grade for the unknown exercise will be incorporated into the laboratory grade.
