My research focuses on white-tailed deer mortality and movement patterns. I am looking at whether deer that die exhibit behaviors prior to death that distinctly separate them from neighboring deer that survive during the same time period. If deer show measurable differences in resource use and ranging behaviors in the days, weeks, or months prior to death, we can determine the landscape factors that a deer might be exposed to that will leave them more likely to die.
