Graduate Research Topic
Studying the relationship between land use change and hydrology in the heavily urbanized Rio Piedras watershed of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The study also looks to determine impacts of runoff and flooding on vulnerable populations and areas identified as areas of concern by community stakeholders. Additional study questions will address the analysis of the importance of using quality land cover data as inputs for geographic models, and how the quality of land cover data will impact modeled ecological/hydrological function.
