Whale Shark and Oceanic Research Center
Utila, Honduras
Follow the experiences of ESF student Kelly Lynn Goodale, who was at work at the Whale Shark and Oceanic Research Center in Utila, Honduras for several weeks this summer.
Kelly secured a whale shark conservation internship as a result of her work in Ecological Engineering in the Tropics—a course offered through the ESF Department of Environmental Resources and Forest Engineering that included field study in Honduras this past spring (see below).

Engineers Without Borders & Ecological Engineering in the Tropics

The students of the ESF chapter of Engineers Without Borders were in Honduras to work on providing potable water for the residents of Buena Vista—an isolated village community of 300 people near the north coast on the dry side of the Pico Bonito mountains. At the same time, students taking Ecological Engineering in the Tropics (EET) with Professor Ted Endreney, traveled to rainforests, coral reefs, and Mayan ruins.
