Courses in GIT are taught in many Departments at ESF and range from introductory to Advanced and from applied to theoretical.
Facilities for using and studying these technologies are widely distributed on campus. GIS software ESRI (ArcGIS and its exgtensions) and Clark Lab (IDRISI) are available in all the Colleges computing clusters and ArcGIS is on almost every computer on campus. Student 1 year ArcGIS (CD) licenses are available from several Faculty. Various software packages for RST-based analysis and a range of GPS equipment is available in many departments.
The campus organization that shepherd's most GIT activity on campus is the Council for Geospatial Modeling and Analysis or CGMA (pronounced as Sigma) and is composed of faculty and staff from many of the College's Departments. CGMA's mission is to support and advance the use of GIT in campus teaching and research in the many fields that are part of the College Departments
