Great Lakes Research Consortium |
The
New York Great Lakes Research Consortium is an organization
of sixteen New York colleges and universities with active research
programs on the chemical, physical, biological and socio-economic
aspects of the Great Lakes. Recently the Consortium unveiled the New
York Great Lakes Initiative for Science and Education to create in
New York State the world’s premier research capacity for freshwater-related
research. The Initiative involves the upgrading of existing shore-based
research centers, field stations and outreach facilities and the construction
of new ones throughout New York’s Great Lakes Basin. The Initiative
will build on current research strengths in sampling and monitoring
technology, environmental systems management, toxic chemical analysis,
ecosystem forecasting, fisheries management and sustainable economic
development.
