Accepted Graduate Students
2008 Orientation, Registration & New Student Information
Welcome to ESF!
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the graduate community at SUNY ESF. While it is our expectation that you will be a serious student, it is equally important to us that you become an educated and thoughtful citizen. When you graduate from ESF what will set you apart? While only you can answer that question, we can and do offer you many curricular and co-curricular experiences and resources that will allow you to hone those very skills for which employers are looking.
I wish you the best of luck in all your endeavors and I look forward to the contributions you will make as an ESF student.Sincerely,
Dr. Cornelius B. Murphy, President
Please be advised that multiple construction projects will increase traffic congestion in the areas adjacent to the Irving Avenue entrance to ESF (near the Carrier Dome). Plan additional time to arrive and access parking in all areas near ESF and Syracuse University throughout the summer and through the fall semester.

Follow the instructions at the NetID Web site to activate your userid.
- Step 3: To manage your new, official, email account for communication and to register, you will use MyMail, Syracuse University's Web-based e-mail system. You may elect to re-direct other email addresses (gmail, google, yahoo, etc.) to the MyMail system.

Advising
Refer to the college policies and degree requirements in the College Catalog and on the ESF website. To meet academic requirements, graduate students must be registered for at least one credit each semester, excluding summers, from the first semester of matriculation until all degree requirements have been completed. Failure to register for each semester will result in the student being withdrawn from graduate study and, if the student wishes to return in the future, a new application must be filed and reviewed prior to readmission. Students are required to register for at least one credit in the summer if they will complete all requirements during that time.
Most students are assigned a major professor at the time of admission. Students who have been admitted to the Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) degree should contact Prof. Emanuel Carter, MLA Program Coordinator (ejcarter@esf.edu) for initial advising.
If you are in another graduate program and did NOT receive contact information for a major professor, please contact the Office of Instruction & Graduate Studies (esfgrad@esf.edu or 315-470-6599) for the name of your advising contact. The Office of Instruction & Graduate Studies is located in 227 Bray Hall.
Contact your major professor or department chair to establish the first semester class schedule on a registration form [often called the ‘S.C.O.R.E.’ form and available during new graduate student orientation, 9:30-10:30 am, Wednesday, 20 August 2008 in Nifkin Lounge, basement of Marshall Hall].Are you ready to register?
