Interstate 81

These photographs are taken with Autoscope Solo Terra cameras. The cameras are located on the top of the 150-foot CoE Tower, in Downtown Syracuse, and points toward the northeast and southwest. The pictures are updated every 30 minutes.

Traffic Camera Study

Since 2009, traffic cameras were installed to monitor traffic volumes on the adjacent Interstates 81 and 690 at approximately 135 ft.  These camera capture images every 20 seconds from which the program is able to count and categorize vehicles based on size and direction they are heading.  This is valuable inforamtion that can be used in conjunction with air quality data being recorded simultaneously on the same tower, including carbon dioxide and mercury.  This is a collaborative project with Cornell and Clarkson Universities.
