Taking Courses at Another School

An F-1 or J-1 student can be concurrently enrolled at ESF and another institution as long as the student meets the eligibility requirements and enrollment in both schools amounts to a full-time course of study.
Eligibility Requirements for Taking Courses at Another Institution During the Fall or Spring Semester
- Have been maintaining immigration status;
- Have been enrolled in a full course of study in the U.S. for at least one full academic;
- Courses taken at ESF and the other institution will be equivalent to a full-time course load;
- Have received departmental approval
- Submitted the following documentation to the Office of International Education prior to the start of the semester:
- A letter from your academic department indicating:
- The name of the other institution
- The courses you will take at the other institution (course number, section, and title)
- A statement indicating that the student will be maintaining a full-time course load for the semester
- A statement indicating that the courses taken at the other institution will count towards the student’s ESF degree program requirements
- Proof of enrollment in the courses at the other institution
