Taking Courses at Another School
An F-1 or J-1 student can be concurrently enrolled at ESF and another institution as long as the student meets the eligibility requirements and enrollment in both schools amounts to a full-time course of study.
Eligibility Requirements for Taking Courses at Another Institution During the Fall or Spring Semester
- Have been maintaining immigration status;
- Have been enrolled in a full course of study in the U.S. for at least one full academic;
- Courses taken at ESF and the other institution will be equivalent to a full-time course load;
- Have received departmental and institutional approval via a Petition to the Faculty
- Submitted the following documentation to the Office of International Education prior to the start of the semester:
- A signed letter from your academic department indicating:
- Your name and ID#
- The name of the other institution you are taking the course(s) at
- The course(s) you will take at the other institution (course number, section, and title)
- A statement indicating that you will maintain a full-time course load for the semester with your enrollment at ESF and the other institution
- A statement indicating that the courses taken at the other institution will count towards the student’s ESF degree program requirements
- Proof of enrollment in the course(s) at the other institution
- A signed letter from your academic department indicating:
