An Introduction to Education in the U.S.
Education in the United States is unmatched in excellence and is the basis for advancement in almost all careers. Students who earn graduate degrees in the U.S. make connections with colleagues that strengthen bonds between leading international researchers. These collaborations are essential to ESF’s mission in supporting a global, sustainable environment.
In 2004, more than half a million non-US citizens were enrolled in degree programs in the United States. The largest number of those students studied at colleges and universities located in large metropolitan areas and the students were predominantly seeking graduate degrees.
During Fall 2005, 0.1 percent of students in undergraduate programs and 27 percent of students in graduate programs were non-US citizens. These students came from 46 countries on four continents.
ESF welcomes applications from students from all over the world. For more information about academic programs, visit the Academic Programs pages of our website. For more information about subjects related to successful adaptation to ESF, please see the links from this page.
