Supervision/Evaluation
Internships in Environmental Studies

Each intern will have two supervisors: a field supervisor designated by the sponsoring organization and the faculty sponsor chosen by the student.

Note: If your internship has no academic credit attached, you will have only one supervisor (from the sponsoring organization.)

Field Supervisor

The field supervisor is asked to evaluate you in writing twice during the semester. At mid-term and again at the end of the assignment, field supervisors will complete a numerical evaluation of your job performance. At the conclusion of the internship the field supervisor will also provide a narrative evaluation of your performance. These evaluations are returned to the faculty sponsor.

Faculty Sponsor

The faculty sponsor uses the supervisor's evaluation and final paper/project, which he/she and the student agreed would be undertaken to satisfy the academic requirement of the internship, in assigning a grade of A-F for 1-12 credits awarded for the experience.

Initiating and Maintaining Contact

You are responsible for initiating and maintaining contact with the faculty sponsor during the course of the semester in order to ensure that all academic and reporting requirements of the internship are met.
