Abstract:

This set of images was produced by Emerge, a digital aerial photography firm, for the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) in Syracuse, NY. The set is comprised of 25 geoTIFF files that cover the Heiberg Memorial Forest and surrounding areas. The mosaics vary is coverage area but generally cover about 300 hectare. The 0.61 meter pixel, true color imagery was acquired on October 11, 2001 during fall senescence conditions. The mosics were georeference to the UTM zone 18n coordinate system using the NAD83 datum.

Purpose: These data were acquired for SUNY-ESF research purposes.

Supplemental_Information:

The 4,000 acre Heiberg Memorial Forest is located about 20 miles south of SUNY-ESF's Syracuse, NY campus and crosses the southern boarder of Onondaga County into Cortland County . The forest provides instructional and research opportunities in ecosystems representative of the Appalachian plateau. Tree genetics trials play a substantial role here and at the nearby Genetic Field Station.
