Research

Not only are we passionate about sharing ongoing research in the area, but we are also committed to creating it.

The goal of environmental education and interpretation is to foster the creation of an emotional connection between the audience and their natural surroundings. Just as there are endless teaching methods in a formal setting, there is just as many, if not more, in an informal, outdoor setting. And of course, not all methods are created equal – some may be more effective than others in certain situations. Through well designed and implemented research, we can identify the value of various interpretive methods and materials in achieving the goal of the interpretation field. Recognizing the importance and need for this kind of research, NFI staff are interested in creating and contributing to studies in the environmental education and interpretation field.
