Alpha Xi Sigma - Honor Society

Established in 1914, ΑΞΣ emphasizes academic excellence and community involvement. To be eligible for membership, you must have completed at least one semester at ESF with a 3.175 GPA. As a member, students must maintain the 3.175 GPA and complete at least 20 hours of community service both on and off the ESF campus each semester.

How many hours of community service do I need?
You need 16 hours off campus and four on campus for a total of 20 hours.

Where do I log my hours?
Hours should be logged in two locations:

• On a spreadsheet (Excel) to be submitted to the Secretary at axssecretary@gmail.com at the end of each semester
• On this form to be submitted to the secretary at the end of the semester. Submissions can be digital or hard copy. Digital copies should be sent to the Honor Society Secretary

What if I miss or can't make the meetings?
Respond to the minutes by email prior to the next meeting. Remember that attendance for each meeting is mandatory, with only one unexcused absence per semester.

What happens at graduation?
You will receive a bronze pin and sash to wear at graduation. You will also receive a certificate for your membership in ΑΞΣ. If you are a graduating senior, be sure to email the treasurer for your pin and sash at axstreasurer@gmail.com. See the Constitution for details.

If I'm completing hours for another club/project can I apply them here?
Yes, you may apply hours you apply for another organization to ΑΞΣ as well.

How many tests do I need to hand in?
At the end of each semester, you are required to hand in five tests/quizzes that you've received. They can be anonymous (e.g., the name blacked out). They do not necessarily have to be a "good" grade, as they provide students with examples of what to expect (e.g., format, content) for other students. If you are not given any tests/quizzes back by any of your professors please notify the secretary at axssecretary@gmail.com.
