Mighty Oaks For SUNY-ESF Mascot - June 9, 2009

As a result of a recent campus-wide survey, the SUNY-ESF

athletic program will now have a name and mascot to call

their own. Over 800 students took part in the online survey

and “Mighty Oaks” was chosen over the other five candid-

ates. It won by a fairly wide margin. The name Mighty Oaks pays tribute to SUNY-ESF’s roots in the realm of forestry and to the college’s very own Robin Hood Oak landmark. This new name and mascot most certainly compliments the recently redesigned SUNY-ESF logo that now includes an oak leaf and an acorn. It is becoming more and more likely that SUNY-ESF will be recognized best by oak trees due to their appearance in the college logo, the sports program’s emblem, and the mascot.
