The Forestry Club is the oldest student organization, created in
1912, at The College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY.
The Forestry Club uses old-fashioned logging techniques as a sport and as the
Woodsmen's Team competes with other colleges at meets. These events include
horizontal chop, axe throw, pole climb, as well as many more.

March 29th, 2009 The Woodsmen Team hosted the 4th annual East Coast Lumberjack Round-up at the LaFayette Field Experiment Station in LaFayette, NY. Teams from Fingerlakes
Community College, Paul
Smith’s College, Penn
State University,
Cobleskill, and the Rangerschool all competed with the ESF women taking first
place overall and the men taking second.
April 4th, 2009 The Woodsmen Team will be traveling up to Waterville,
Maine to compete in Colby College’s
Mud Meet. Four teams consisting
of three women and three men will try their best in several different events
including dry land burling, backboard/water boil relay and disc stack. Sorry everyone, but there will be no
match light this year!
April 24th & 25th, 2009 The woodsmen Team will
be competing in the 63rd annual spring meet to be held at Dartmouth College
in Hanover, New Hampshire. Directions to the meet as well as a
list of events and times can be found on the hyperlink above. This meet is sponsored by Stihl
timbersports and promises to be extremely competitive and fun.
