The Woodsmen’s       
 Team



  The Forestry Club is the oldest student organization, created in 1912, at The College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. The Forestry Club uses old-fashioned logging techniques as a sport and as the Woodsmen's Team competes with other colleges at meets. These events include horizontal chop, axe throw, pole climb, as well as many more.

 November 8, 2007 The Woodsmen Team has wrapped up the semester by competing in one of the largest Canadian Competitions of the Fall. They also attended Paul Smiths Annual Autumn Woodsmens Competition the previous weekend and Finger Lakes Community College Annual Woodsmen Meet on October 7, 2007.

    
April 15, 2007 On April 20th and 21st, the Woodsmen’s Team will be participating in the biggest Lumberjack meet of the year, Spring Meet. This year, this two day even t will be held at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. Wish us luck!!

     April 1, 2007 Both the Men and the Womens Woodsmen’s Teams placed first in their 2nd Annual East Coast Lumberjack Roundup on March 31, 2007. The Event this year was held at Syracuse University’s Manley Fields off Colvin Street. Participating schools included Paul Smith’s College, Finger Lakes Community College, Penn State, and SUNY Cobleskill. Photos

     December 20, 2006 The Woodsmen Team was the proud recipient of the 2006 Presidents Award for Community Service during the December Soiree on December 9, 2006. Twelve members of the team were present to receive this award. The Community Service Award is presented to one club organization each year that has demonstrated participation beyond the constitution of the club.
