First-Year Student Orientation Schedule

Tentative First-Year Student Orientation Schedule - 2016

Below is the tentative Orientation schedule for new first-year students. You can view the Family schedule by clicking at the right box. Parking for families will be available for Tuesday ONLY in the Standart Parking lot at Syracuse University.

Students will receive their course schedules on Wednesday and have the opportunity to make any schedule adjustments Wednesday as well as purchase their textbooks which will then be delivered a few days later.

Tuesday, August 23rd

8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Assisted Move-In with Mighty Movers (Centennial Hall residents only)
9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Orientation Check-In: Gateway Center Conference Rooms
9 a.m. - 1 p.m. ID Card and Trailhead Meal Card Distribution: On-Campus students will pick up at Centennial Hall and non-residential students will pick up at Gateway Check-In
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Complimentary Refreshments and Snacks: Gateway Center Conference Room B-C
11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Trailhead Cafe Open: Gateway Center
12 - 1:30 p.m. Commuter Student and Family Lunch: 408 Baker Lab
2 p.m. Welcome to ESF: Hendricks Chapel
3 - 4 p.m.

Students Only: Icebreakers on the ESF Quad

4 - 7:30 p.m. Dinner on your own
7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Floor Meetings (Centennial Hall residents only)
8:30 - 9:30 p.m. Meeting with OL Groups: Locations various

Wednesday, August 24th

8 - 9 a.m. Registration Packet Pick-Up: Gateway Center Concourse
9 -10 a.m. Registration Tutorial and Navigation: Gateway Center
10 - 11 a.m. Academic Department Meetings: Introduction to your Academic Experience: Locations various
10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Schedule Adjustments (If Needed): Baker Lab Computer Clusters
11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Trailhead Cafe Open: Gateway Center
12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Meeting with OL Groups: Locations various
2 - 3 p.m. College 101: The Academic Experience: Gateway Center
3 - 4:30 p.m. Courtesy Pass It On: Gateway Center and Nifkin Lounge
4:30 - 7:30 p.m. Dinner on your own (Sadler Dining Hall Open)

2 - 3 p.m. ESF Olympics, Banner Signing, and Class Photo: ESF Quad
3:30 p.m. Procession to Hendricks Chapel: Meet on the ESF Quad
4 p.m. ESF Welcome Convocation for all New Students: Hendricks Chapel
5:30 - 7 p.m. ESF Welcome Barbecue: ESF Quad (Rain location: Gateway Center)
6:30 p.m. ESF Athletics Pep Rally: ESF Quad (Rain location: Gateway Center)
9 p.m. - 12 a.m. ESF/SU Joint Event: OrangeBlast!: SU Quad/Archbold/Flannagan Gymnasium

Saturday, August 27th

9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. ESF's Campus Day of Service: Meet in the Gateway Center for Welcome Remarks. Buses depart outside of Centennial Hall at 10 a.m.
5 - 8 p.m. ESF/SU Joint Event: "Citrus in the City": Experience Downtown Syracuse! Buses depart from the Schine Student Center at 5 p.m.
9 p.m. - 1 a.m. ESF/SU Joint Event: Cuse Carnival: Hendricks Field

Sunday, August 28th

1 p.m. ESF First Annual Quiz Bowl: Gateway Center
3 p.m. Ice Cream Social Sponsored by the Alumni Office: Gateway Center Concourse
