ESF and the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS) sponsored an Environmental Science Summer Institute for Teachers August 9-12, 2009. This year ten ESF in the High School Teachers and nine NSF GK12 Fellows participated in the Institute. Graduate Fellows led activities covering a diversity of topics, including vegetation sampling to compare species diversity, environmental valuation, and landscape change. Teachers and Fellows also participated in a plant walk with Dr. Donald Leopold at Cranberry Lake Biological Station. The group did planning for the 2009-10 school year.
The Institute was held at the Ranger School in Wanakena, NY (Adirondacks).
