ESF and the Science Teachers Association of New York State (STANYS) sponsored an Environmental Science Summer Institute for Teachers August 9-12, 2009. This year ten ESF in the High School Teachers and nine NSF GK12 Fellows participated in the Institute. Graduate Fellows led activities including vegetation sampling to compare species diversity, environmental valuation, and landscape change. Teachers and Fellows also participated in a plant walk with Dr. Donald Leopold at Cranberry Lake Biological Station. The group did planning for the upcoming 2009-10 school year.
The institute was held at the Ranger School in Wanakena, NY (Adirondacks).
