ESF Outreach K-12
The STEM Elementary Enrichment program brings ESF research into the classroom using student-driven research projects and project-based activities centered on the environmental theme of Sustainability, which is a core focus of ESF. Our project with the Syracuse City School District builds upon previously established and successful partnerships in a new effort that will greatly facilitate graduate student and public school teacher professional development. Graduate Student Fellows will work directly with public school teachers in the City of Syracuse public schools of Martin Luther King Elementary and Van Duyn Elementary. As the Fellows recieve mentoring and professional development from ESF faculty and SCSD teachers they will engage SCSD students to deepen their knowledge of science, thus developing young citizens who will contribue to an overall healthy environment and sustainable future.
