Nearly 20 staff, students and alumni from SUNY-ESF volunteered at the 6th Annual Onondaga Lake Day at Onondaga Lake Park on June 2, 2007. The event, sponsored by the Onondaga Lake Partnership (OLP) is designed to bring people to the lake to take part in a variety of fun and educational activities. “This is a great way to enjoy some time at the lake while learning about how the lake is getting better,” Sue Miller, Chair of the event for the OLP’s Outreach Committee reports.
The ESF Science Corps crew, organized by ESF Outreach, contributed greatly to the success of the day. ESF staff, students, and alumni enthusiastically participated in educational and recreational activities, including fishing instruction, building bluebird houses, face painting featuring animals found around the lake, Fashion a Fish, and an ESF fisheries research display.
Special thanks goes out to all that helped out – Tony Siniscal, Stephanie Johnson, Lucas Kirby, Lee Raza, Alex Howe, Terri Evans, Kenson Jeffrey, Ryan Wynne, Erin Murphy, Laura Hahn, Lea Calhoun, Frank Moses, Emily Gates, Mandy Fritzen, Derek Pursell, and Tom Hughes.
