Photovoltaic Installer Courses for 2009

SUNY SPARE Photovoltaic Installer Courses are offered by SUNY-ESF in collaboration with SUNY Morrisville and SUNY Onondaga Community College (OCC). Basic and advanced PV courses are instructed by Dr. Gay Canough and her colleague, Ms. Francine Notte. If you complete the basic course, you can meet a requirement for certification through NABCEP as a PV installer.

4-day Basic Photovoltaic Installer Course at SUNY Morrisville

Fee $425 for an individual, or $400 per person if registering two or more people from the same company, union or organization.

2-day Advanced Photovoltaic Installer Course

  • 2010 dates coming soon

Fee $275 for an individual, or $250 per person if registering two or more people from the same company, union or organization.

*Before taking this course, it is highly recommended that you take one of the 4-day introductory Installer Courses or have previous installer experience.

NABCEP Entry Level Certificate of Knowledge Exam

  • We will offer the Certificate of Knowledge exam on an occasional basis.
    We do not have the next exam date at this time, but please check back for updates.

Benefits of the PV Installer Course

  • Professional engineers earn 21 PDHs for continuing education.
  • 27 continuing education credits for electricians from New Jersey (issued by Dr. Gay Canough)
  • Value-added training for trades and installer staff

  • All participants receive a complete course notebook for certification examination preparation

The successful SPARE participant should have either a high school diploma or a GED. Men and women in the HVAC, electrical and ironworker trades are particularly encouraged to explore this value-added training.
