About SAGE
The SAGE project will expose high school students and teachers to people and ideas that demonstrate the green entrepreneurial spirit. Participants will become better versed in the science of environmental challenges, entrepreneurial thinking, and the role they can play in meeting these challenges. Environmental innovation is not only a social consciousness issue but an economic one. New advances and innovations can lead to new jobs and business enterprises.
Global energy needs and other environmental challenges make environmental — or “green” — entrepreneurship a compelling area of interest today. A national study (Battelle Memorial Institute) reported that the Syracuse/Central New York area is seen as a national leader in several sectors of green technology and innovation. The SAGE Project builds upon our region's natural, economic, educational and workforce resources to support the sustainability and green entrepreneurship education and professional development needs of students, teachers, and professionals.
Our goal is to create a “green entrepreneurial culture” of informed and prepared young people in our region.
