Labor Day fun with the ESF Science Corps at the Great New York State Fair September 2006-07

Over the past two Labor Day holidays, undergraduate and graduate student members of the Volunteer Science Corps have contributed to the College’s mission of community outreach and environmental education at SUNY-ESF’s festival tent at the NY State Fair.

ESF Science Corps proudly featured ESF SCIENCESummer Camps Investigating Ecology in Neighborhood and City Environments. Displays and activities inspired by the summer science camp program, included Fashion a Fish, an imaginative exercise where kids of all ages enjoyed constructing and coloring their own fish while learning about the adaptations the fish uses to survive in its environment; Canaries of the Stream: The Use of Macroinvertebrates for Assessing Water Quality; Wood Duck Conservation, a display that spotlights the partnership between ESF SCIENCE and the Central New York Wildfowlers, and Face Painting.

A special thanks goes out to all the Science Corps students and ESF Outreach staff and friends that spent their Labor Day holiday at the fairgrounds – Tom Hughes, Lee Raza, Alex Howe, Ian Blackburn, Laura Hahn, Anna Stewart, BrandiLee Schafran, Lizz Mulligan, Sean Brady, Leetha Phonharath, Sarah Seib, Frank Moses, Kay Hajek, Nate Anderson, Lea Calhoun, Mandy Fritzen, Katie O’Rourke, David Williams and Kelly Gonzalez.
