Evaluating Natural Resources in a Global Environment

ENRGE brings together the sciences of ecology, economics and public policy. We develop teams of scientists and professionals from academic institutions, industry, environmental organizations and government agencies. We draw on the analytical strengths of these teams to examine emerging trends in global markets, and match these against the natural resources of New York State.

We draw on the creative talents of these teams to identify and explore new approaches to regulatory and fiscal policy. We communicate our findings to business and public leaders with intent of enabling them to better position New York with global markets, and protect our natural resources against sudden changes in market forces.

New York is in an excellent position to control its destiny because three ingredients are in place. First, state agencies in New York have long conducted extensive surveys. Second, nearly a century of scientific inquiry has produced a solid understanding of the economic and ecological engines of New York. Third, the expertise available in public and private universities, and business communities of New York are second to none. By drawing science and expertise together, we have the opportunity to forge a new leadership position for New York.
