"We learned so much in such a short time. I'm convinced the best way to learn is to be in the place you're learning about. I will take these memories (with me) for the rest of my life." (Student who traveled to Dominica with the FOR 523 class)

What is Service Learning?

Service learning is a teaching method which combines community service with academic instruction as it focuses on critical, reflective thinking and civic responsibility. Service-learning programs involve students in organized community service that addresses local needs, while developing their academic skill, sense of civic responsibility, and their commitment to the community. (National Campus Compact). Students are also welcome to participate outside of class in an ESF Community Service project.

Most simply put, Service Learning students make a difference while they learn how to make a difference. How will YOU contribute?
